CALKINS CREEK BOOKS. Booth's Daughter by Raymond Wemmlinger. Included in NEW BOOKS FOR MISSOURI STUDENTS, 2008 edition produced by the Missouri State Teacher Association. REVIEWS: Booklist: Elements reminiscent of an Edith Wharton novel’Äîthe mannered social interactions, Gilded Age settings, and matrimony-bound momentum’Äì’Äìwill draw many romantically inclined readers, who will delight in the sweet inevitability of Edwina’Äôs love match as much as in the closing message: ’ÄúGrab your own chance at happiness. You can make others happy only if you’Äôre happy yourself. Kirkus Reviews: [Wemmlinger's] quick-moving and well-written story employs appropriately old-fashioned speech and the result is enthralling.
